The Lares valley is an
important area to the east. Land of the Antis, with whom
the Incas could exchange goods; and whom also wanted to
establish themselves in the area to grow the precious
coca leafs. This area is also characterized by the
textiles production, using techniques and tools
inherited from ancestral times; a good example of living
ancient culture.
On our trek we will walk
through altitude levels such as Quechua, suni and puna,
with the highest altitude we’ll reach of 4600 m.a.s.l.
The geography is spectacular and we’ll have the
opportunity to get to know the flora and fauna
characteristically on each of the ecological levels
mentioned above.
We will also see groups of
Southamerican camels, as rearing them is one of the
principal economic activities of the area together with
the production of handmade textiles. We can appreciate
this in each community.

LARES HOT SPRINGS–WACAWASI

Sacred Valley arriving to LARES Hot Springs and spend
the morning soaking in the medicinal hot springs, after
lunch we have two hours of trekking to our campsite.
Day 2.-WACAWASI –

We'll arrive to the
HUACAWASI community. The people here produce some of the
finest weavings in Peru. Here, we can observe their
great skills and brilliant techniques in knitting
ponchos and other garments. Passing the village we begin
climbing up to Condor Pass, the second of the trip at
4100m. From here,
we catch a stunning view of the renowned white peak
Veronica (5750m.) Descending gently for about one hour,
we come to the beautiful EPSAYCOCHA Lake, our last
campsite.
Today our trail leads
downhill to an overlook facing a wide valley. Descending
into the valley, we eventually arrive to the community
of HUYLLOC where we’ll have lunch, from here it’ll take
two hours to arrive to PUMAMARKA and enjoy the INCA
terraces, finally we arrive to OLLANTAYTAMBO. Located in
a fertile river valley and sheltered by mammoth
mountains, this ancient Inca village is considered one
of the most important living museums in the world. This
is a perfect place to appreciate the vast archaeological
remains and a wide variety of flowers and birds species.

comfortable hostel.
